Apr 1: ROD Jennifer Irwin offeredTom Travis, Director, Clear Channel Communications, who stated the decency rules in broadcasting. It turns out there is no room for obscenitites, but the airwaves can be indecent from 10 pm to 6 am.! Apr 8: ROD Jennifer Irwin introduced Rex Nelson, Director of Policy and Communications, Office of the Governor, Arkansas. Speaking on Education Reform, Rex feels that it is the people of our state that have to change their beliefs, as it is easier to institute a policy change than a cultural one. Apr 15: ROD Jennifer Irwin gave us Joe Murphy, Vice President for the Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB TV Networks. We saw a presen-tation on how to get the shopper's attention, since we are bombarded with so much infor-mation...his company gets our attention in the stores themselves, on a private network. Apr 22: ROD Jennifer Irwin gave us substitute speaker John Patrick, a weatherman at Arkansas' NBC 24/51. Our scheduled speaker was out storm chasing. This is the heart of the severe weather season, and John outlined several important safety tips for us during this time. Apr 29: ROD Jennifer Irwin gave us Kevin Trainer, Sports Info. Dir. at UofA. Al-though the internet brings changes in methods of reporting, not all "facts" reported are true...but most sports news reporters are highly professional. |
