May 20: ROD Bootsie Ackerman presented Marcus Divine, Director Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality: The Effect of Environmental Issues on Economic Development. His more than 400 employees around our state include scientists, engineers, lawyers, and inspectors, working to protect our environment, through preservation efforts and sometimes enforcement actions. The department would rather bring a company into compliance, but sometimes force through litigation is necesary to protect our Natural State. May 27: ROD Bootsie Ackerman introduced club member and Past President Barbara Prichard, who spoke to us on Vocational Awareness of Club Members. We were shown pictures of our club's Thai Kids Partner Project, including a plaque in our honor at the dorms that our money built, as well as the supplies that we furnished through our donations. June 3: At our annual Service Above Self Banquet, held at the Clarion, we presented awards to Ellen Meenen and club member Chuck Culver. June 10: ROD John Threet introduced Arkansas Atty. General Mike Bebee who followed up with us on the subject of his last visit with our club, the Lakeview Case. He informed us that Arkansas isn't alone in this type of dilemma; 25 other states are currently facing litigation for school funds dis-tribution. Mike feels that although the state is awaiting the Court's decision on several matters, we essentially got the job done as per the Court's mandate. |
June 17: Circuit Judge Bill Storey June 24: Fayetteville Chief of Police Rick Hoyt Ask Uncle Ronnie Q Whom should I tell if my personal information in the directory changes? A
Your spouse and your
lawyer first. Presumable, your surgeon already knows. Next, please let
Grace Lapetina know. A It depends on whether you are laughing at or with someone. Laughing at them is a lot more fun as is sanctioned by our Club. If a Club meeting is getting dull, it is per-missible to stand before the assemblage and say “Fred Vorsanger.” |
