Centennial Project

47 receipts were turned in for Emilia's, which will bring in $168.00. Many of our avenues of fundraising haven't been implemeted or turned in yet, but we have raised over $2600 so far! Our restaurant for November is Café Rue Orleans on College Ave. across from VA Hospital. Contact: Maudie Schmitt 443-2777. Go out to eat and bring in your receipt! And you can still bring in your old cell phones!

NEW! Committee Assignments

Oct 7 : ROD Phyllis Johnson presented Brenda Blagg, Regional Editor of The Morning News and Stacy Pittman, SVP Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods. Both discussed their views of how the political process worked in Arkansas, specifically in the legislature. While their views differed in some areas, they both seemed to agree on the fact that six-year term limits are problematic and make our state legislators ineffective. This is largely due to the bi-annual legislature meetings, the part-time legislator roles, and the geographical diversity of the legislators which makes Arkansas the most restrictive term limits in the U.S. Both favored voting FOR Amendment 1, which will extend the term limit from 6 to 12 years.

Oct 14: ROD Phyllis Johnson gave us a tour new Fayetteville City Library, which our club gave a donation of $12,500 to help build.

Oct 21: ROD Phyllis Johnson brought us Janine Parry, Political Scientist, UA. Janine brought up the interesting fact that a large majority of possible voters, the 18 to 28 year olds, probably weren't being polled becasue they don't have a landline, but rather exclusively use a cell phone, and aren't on polling list.

Oct 28: ROD Phyllis Johnson gave us Senator Blanche Lincoln (joint with Northside). Senator Lincoln delivered several anecdotes about her life and jo, and informed us of some of her plans for the future, should her fellow Arkansans vote to keep her in office.
