Feb 3: RODs Mike Robards and Bear Graen brought us the Rotary 4 Way Speech Competition. Winning contestant Jamie Wilson presented her speech on whether the smoking ban made econimic sense for Fayetteville. Whether you agreed with her premise or not, it was very well-constructed and delivered with style and grace. Well done, Jamie!

Feb 10: ROD Curt Rom brought us Dr. Charles Pollard, President, John Brown University. JBU us a Christ-centered, interdenominational University with both a Liberal Arts program and Professional programs, with 1200 undergraduates and 500 working adult students, including 225 graduate students. They come from 43 different states and 40 different countries to make up a truly diverse population. With 170 faculty members and a staff of 220, JBU is well equipped to handle the job.

Feb 17: ROD Curt Rom gave us Mr. Ben McLintock, Director of Planned Giving/Development, Washington County EOA. Ben informed us that AR ranks 50th in poverty in the US, which means higher mortality rates, and diminished opportunities for economic growth. The EOA was started as a solution by using such programs as Head Start, RSVP of NWA, Multi-Cultural Centers, and the Individual Development Account.

Feb 24: ROD Curt Rom presented Mark Landon-Smith, Director, Arts Live Theatre. Mark is directing the fabulous The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe...but sorry, we can't go...it's a sold-out show! Mark loves working with kids and always wanted to be an actor. He believes the Arts Live Theatre provides kids with a place to dream and wings to fly.
