May 6: ROD Bootsie Ackerman presented Tim Conklin, from the City of Fayetteville, who gave a presentation on the Fayetteville Downtown Master Plan. We saw some slides with visions of our beautiful city in years hence, blending pedestrian needs (walking around) with auto needs (parking!!!) and with aesthetic properties. The planner's visions are lovely and will take a lot of cooperation from businesses to fulfill, but wouldn't it be lovely if all of Fayetteville looked more like the Square? May 13: ROD Bootsie Ackerman introduced Rey Henandez, of Hernandez Marketing. Rey is the authority on the Hispanic community here in NWA. He works on connecting the business community with the Hispanic consumer. Half of the population growth in this country is Hispanic, creating a huge consumer base that is very loyal to brands. With a combined disposable income of over 69 billion, Rey pointed out that it only makes sense for the NWA business community to seek ways to service this growing population. A white paper on this topic is here. Ask Uncle Ronny Q. Do I use first names for all Club members, even judges and doctors? A.
At Rotary functions all Rotarians are addressed by their
first name, regardless of their lofty status in civilian life. Sneak a
peek at the button with one eye while maintaining eye contact with the
other if you should momentarily forget a Member’s first name. If
they have forgotten their button, “hey Hoss” is a good substitute. |
